How to Integrate Shopify or Mercado Libre with Your Management System
Selling on Shopify, Mercado Libre, or both at once is common in e-commerce — but it also creates a very concrete problem: if those platforms aren’t connected to your stock or management system, someone has to enter the same information in more than one place. An order that comes in through Mercado Libre doesn’t automatically update the stock you see on Shopify, and vice versa. The result is products showing as available when they’re not anymore, or manual entry that eats up hours every week.
The problem with selling on more than one channel without integration
The more sales channels you have, the worse the desync problem gets. If you sell the same product on your own store and on Mercado Libre, and stock doesn’t update automatically between the two, you run a real risk of selling something you no longer have — which creates a much worse problem than not selling: an angry customer over a purchase that can’t be fulfilled.
What can be integrated
- Stock — so a sale on any channel automatically deducts available stock across all the others.
- Orders — so every order, no matter which platform it comes from, gets automatically centralized in your management system.
- Prices — automatic price updates across all channels when they change in the central system.
- Billing — automatic invoice generation from the order information, with no manual entry.
How it’s implemented, broadly
- Identify every active sales platform and what information each one currently manages independently.
- Define the source of truth — usually the central management system, which feeds the other channels.
- Connect via the available APIs from Shopify, Mercado Libre, or other platforms, so syncing is automatic and real-time.
- Test with a controlled volume before rolling it out across the full catalog, to catch edge cases (products with variants, bundles, etc.).
The expected result
Stock, order, and price information updates in one place and is automatically reflected across every sales channel, with no duplicate manual entry and no risk of selling something that’s no longer available.
This is part of what we work on in integrations for e-commerce businesses selling on more than one channel.
